A roundabout on the outskirts of town. An iconic feature of France, overlooked and unloved. Many see it as nothing more than a hole, a gaping void. But it is at this crossroads, this vortex, that by throwing yourself into its eye, you encounter a vibrant world, the vitality of an entire neighbourhood.

Yohanne Lamoulère was born in Nîmes in 1980. After spending her teenage years in the Comoros, she graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles in 2004 and now lives and works in Marseille. A member of the Tendance Floue collective, her favourite themes are the outskirts of cities and insularity in all its forms. In 2018, Faux Bourgs, a compilation of her work on the city of Marseille, was published by Le Bec en l'air. She is also part of the Zirlib collective with director Mohamed El Khatib. L'œil Noir is her first film
