Call for scripts - Ateliers d'Angers

Presentation

The 21st edition of the Ateliers d'Angers will take place from Monday 19 to Saturday 24 January 2026.

Founded by Jeanne Moreau and the Premiers Plans Festival in July 2005, the Ateliers d'Angers are aimed at young French-speaking filmmakers who have made one or more short films and are preparing to make their first feature-length fiction film.

Over the past 20 years, the Ateliers have welcomed nearly 150 European filmmakers to develop their projects. For 6 days, these young filmmakers have the opportunity to develop their script and discuss their project with renowned artists and technicians, who come to share their thoughts and experiences on the selected scripts, covering writing, directing, editing, directing, producing, music, etc.

Over the past 20 years, many professionals have also come to the Ateliers to meet project leaders, including: Antoine Barraud, Guillaume Brac, Fanny Burdino, Robin Campillo, Manuel Chiche, Jean-Pierre et Luc Dardenne, Lukas Dhont, Rachel Lang, Marie-Ange Luciani, Jean Bernard Marlin, Claude Miller, Christian Petzold, Katell Quillévéré, Youna de Peretti, Razvan Radulescu, Jonathan Ricquebourg, João Pedro Rodrigues, Jaime Rosales, Céline Sciamma, Guillaume Senez, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Justine Triet...

Objectives

The aim of the Ateliers d'Angers is to :

  • Share the experience of experienced filmmakers, scriptwriters and technicians, illustrated by specific cases from their professional practice.

  • Perfect their own project by working with the professionals present on the script, direction, lighting and framing, editing, music and sound, directing, production, etc.

  • Meet with filmmakers in the process of developing their first feature film to discuss the challenges of making a first film. 

  • Discover young European filmmakers through films in the official Premiers Plans Festival competition and previews. 

Filmmakers in residence programme

The mornings are reserved for group workshops or masterclasses given by a guest speaker.

The afternoons are devoted to individual discussions between the filmmakers and the speakers who have read the projects.

In the evenings, previews of films and films in competition are followed by meetings with the filmmakers.

Eligibility criteria

  • Have a project for a first feature-length fiction film (complete script - dialogue continuity) 

  • Have already made one or more short films

  • The project must be produced or co-produced with France, Belgium, Switzerland or Quebec

  • Be French-speaking (the Workshops are held entirely in French)

Registration

The application form must be completed online and signed by Monday, September 15, 2025 at the latest on our website (in french).

Registration closed on 15 September. The selection results will be announced on 8 December. 

Registration fees

The registration fee for the Ateliers d'Angers is €50.

Selected filmmakers will be asked to contribute 600€ towards travel, accommodation and catering costs.

Application form

Documents to be provided in 1 PDF copy (all documents and links must be included in a single document) : 

  • Completed application form

  • Feature film script in French (or exceptionally in English, provided the filmmaker speaks French)

  • Synopsis (20 lines maximum)

  • Note of intent from the filmmaker

  • Curriculum vitae of the filmmaker

  • Curriculum vitae and description of the production company

  • Vimeo links to previous short films

  • Provisional financial plan (grants applied for and/or already obtained) - Optional

  • Motivation letter regarding participation in the Workshops

Protection of personal data

The Association Premiers Plans undertakes to comply with the provisions :

  • European Regulation (EU) No. 2016/679 of April 27, 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data,

  • Law no. 2018-493 of June 20, 2018 on the protection of personal data,

  • Act no. 78-17 of January 6, 1978 on data processing, data files and individual liberties, as amended,

and, more generally, all regulations relating to the processing of personal data.

The rightful owners remain responsible for all personal data processing carried out within their entities and undertake to take all necessary administrative and legal measures.

Premiers Plans processes personal data in its capacity as data controller for the purpose of managing its relations with the entitled parties.

The legal basis for this processing is the present regulations.

Premiers Plans takes all organizational and technical measures in order to secure the personal data entrusted by the rightful claimants.

Premiers Plans only keeps the data for the time necessary for the operations for which it was collected and in compliance with the regulations in force.  In this respect, the data of rightful claimants is deleted 10 years after the end of the settlement.

Rightful claimants may exercise their rights by sending a letter by post to Premiers Plans, for the attention of the Data Protection Referent, 9 rue Jeanne Moreau, 49100 Angers or to dpo@premiersplans.org accompanied by a copy of a signed identity document. Premiers Plans will reply within one month.

Premiers Plans is very attentive to find any solution in case of disagreement. However, if no solution is found, rightful claimants have the right to lodge a complaint with the Cnil via its website www.cnil.fr.
