The first documentary on Jean-Pierre Melville since his death in 1973, Olivier Bohler's film is made up of archive footage showing Melville on TV shows, at home, in his studios or on shoots. Olivier Bohler also includes extracts from Melville's films and interviews made in 2008 with personalities and friends who frequented him or who are influenced by him: Philippe Labro, André Labarthe, Rémy Grumbach, Volker Schlondorff, Johnnie To and Masahiro Kobayashi.
