After studying Economics and Musicology, Stephan Brüggenthies worked as a journalist. He went to the Baden-Wüttemberg Filmakademie in 1994, where he made Die seltsame Welt von Wolfgang und Melanie, presented at Angers in 1998. He has also composed the music for around thirty films. Sind sie Luigi? is his first independent production.
