Born in 1986 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Marie-Elsa Sgualdo studied at the Geneva Haute École d’Art et de Design before entering INSAS in Brussels. She has made several short films, including On the Beach (2012), selected for Premiers Plans, and Man Kann (2013). She is co-founder of the Terrain Vague collective. À bras-le-corps (2025) is her first feature film.
