Born in Budapest in 1955, Ildikó Enyedi is a screenwriter and director. After studying at university in France and Budapest, she studied at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. After directing several short films, she made her first feature film, My Twentieth Century (1989), which won the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Between directing short films and feature films, Ildikó Enyedi became a leading figure in contemporary Hungarian cinema and chaired several juries at international film festivals. In 2023, she chaired the Short Film Jury at the Cannes Film Festival. Her latest feature film, Silent Friend (2025), was presented in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
