The brush of a spider's legs on bare skin... Unexplained noises in the dead of night... A child in a locked room... A big empty house where you feel a strange presence... The needle of a syringe drawing inevitably closer... A dead creature in a jar of formaldehyde... The wide staring eyes of a dog baring its teeth... All those shivers that we have felt down our spines one day or another, just as the authors of this journey taking us into to the land of fear.

"At the beginning we wanted to create a youth series based on the frightening stories of Robert Louis Stevenson, Jack London or Edgar Allan Poe. But it was impossible to get funding from broadcasters... So we thought it would be fascinating to use abstract animation, but to create fear. In Peur[s] du noir (Fear(s) of the Dark), each animated story is the transposition or extension of the graphic world of its author. One of the challenges was to be perfectly in line with the artists using animated images. These fears are evoked in the films' titles. Some of them are explicit narrative developments, others come from feelings or from quotes" (V. Schermann, C. Jankovic, producers).
