My Best Fiend
Mein liebster Feind - Klaus Kinski
Werner Herzog

© Potemkine Films
Klaus Kinski was struck down by a fatal heart attack on 23 November 1991, at the age of sixty-five. Werner Herzog did not immediately realise that his friend had died; it was just an announcement, words that he could not comprehend. It was only when he scattered Kinski’s ashes in the Pacific that he understood that he was no longer there. Despite everything, he still felt him by his side; and in 1998, he felt his presence so strongly that he knew it was time to talk about their shared adventure, their friendship, their collaboration, their hatred.
