Omar never lived with his mother, who remained in Morocco due to administrative issues. When she suddenly reappears in his life in France, everything changes. To him, this woman is a stranger. Raised by his father alone, he finds himself confronted with a maternal presence he does not understand, one that is both unsettling and disturbing. Between them lies the distance of time, silence, and a love that must be relearned.

Mouad Habrini was born in Khouribga, Morocco, and arrived in France at the age of four to join his father and two older brothers. His older sister, who remained in Morocco, was never able to join them. Mouad Habrini's work blends reality and fiction, memory and imagination. He films faces, bodies, and places to preserve them and give voice to stories of immigration, exile, family, and forgetting. In his second year of study, he made Ma'Ma, a deeply personal film inspired by his own story: that of a child living in France with his father and brothers, while his mother and part of his family remain in Morocco. This feeling of strangeness and distance from his mother was the starting point for this intimate story. Now a graduate of CinéFabrique, Mouad Habrini continues to write and develop his projects, with the desire to pursue a sensitive cinema, rooted in memory and humanity.
