In France, Juan dreams of the death of an unknown woman. Later, he learns that his biological mother died that very night. Juan sets out in search of his forgotten homeland in southern Chile. As he delves into his mother’s history, he uncovers and reveals the forgotten story of an indigenous people and the “golden age” of international adoption, when 20,000 Chilean children—mostly of Mapuche descent—were sent abroad for adoption.
