At the Women’s Shelter, women who are victims of violence are cared for. Elsewhere, they are threatened, brutalised, raped, mutilated, their suffering ignored. Here, they are listened to, supported, helped, believed. Diane, Manon, Inès, Awa and the others will give them a helping hand until they can get back on their feet. As a team. Even if it means risking their own stability.

Trained at the Institut national de l’audiovisuel (Ina), Mélisa Godet began her career in cinema by joining Les Productions du Trésor. For several years she was a development manager, contributing to notable projects such as Polisse (2011) and Populaire (2012). Her talent for writing was particularly evident in her co-writing of Douglas Attal’s film Comment je suis devenue un superhéros (2020).
It was when she discovered the Saint-Denis women’s shelter, a pioneering organisation founded in 2016 by Dr Ghada Hatem to welcome and support women in difficulty or victims of violence, that Mélisa Godet found inspiration for a new project. Captivated by the uniqueness of this place and the strength of its commitment, she decided to turn it into a work of fiction: a social drama that is both poignant and tinged with humour.
