"I was fascinated by the idea of a thriller told in an original way as much in its point of view as in its context. The fact that the story takes place in settings bathed in sunlight, wide open spaces, just like those in the south of Italy, attracted me a lot... The novel and the script talk wonderfully of the loss of innocence and the passage to adulthood. As far as I was concerned, it was essential for the story to be seen through the eyes of a child. We needed to position our point of view, i.e. the camera, at the level of the protagonist. So we filmed the events from a height of around 1.27 metres (...). Apart from the height, we also had to be a light as Michele, so we decided to place the camera on long cranes, small motorcycles, or in fact anything that could give the impression of feeling Michele live" (G. Salvatores).
