Autour du mur

This rare documentary, presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 1983, shows Yilmaz Güney during the shooting of his last film The Wall. Recently exiled in France, the filmmaker recreated a Turkish prison in an Abbey and filmed his 1976 incarceration at the Ankara prison. With his crew of French technicians, exiled political friends and young non-professional actors, he recreated prison life. Living in this setting in total confinement for 6 months, Yilmaz Güney directed and filmed his actors with a disconcerting mixture of terror and seduction.
