"It was commissioned in 1976 by a Polish producer, in other words by the State. I chose to film a trilogy of science-fiction stories written between 1900 and 1903 by Jerzy Zulawski. The trilogy was about the creation of a new world on another planet by a group of dissident ex-inhabitants of Earth. In reality, we witness the creation of a world strangely identical to the one they tried to leave behind." (A. Zulawski) Due to a ban imposed by the Polish government, The Silver Globe was finished only in 1986, ten years after filming had begun. Zulawski has since moved to France.
