I nuovi mostri (Viva l'Italia), a collative work presenting an even more immoral society than was evoked 15 years earlier in I mostri, reaches the heights of sarcasm and dark humour, against a backdrop of social despair and collective anguish. The film is also the epilogue of commedie all'Italiana, and the last episode of the film, Elogio funebre (Eulogy), is often seen as a metaphor of this glorious age.
