A little chef d'oeuvre of fantasy, grace and humour, this film in sketches presents " a cast-iron screenplay, calibrated down to the nearest illimetre, without a single burr, without the slightest concession to vulgarity, the jaded or to conventions" (Onorato Orsini). Without forgetting the mocking and cynical intonations unique to the three directors, this film could be seen as a more delicate variation of I mostri (15 From Rome). In Risi's episode, actor Nino Manfredi, with his fine and measured intelligence, does away, in a single gesture, ith long superfluous dialogue. There are a number of comic gems, notably in the final scene where the actor playing the shy, retiring character annot manage to declare his love. As for the irresistible sketch by D'Amico, it presents an Alberto Sordi in great form, becoming a classic with his character of Guglielmo Bertone.
