Hitler, connais pas

Bertrand Blier, aged only 22 at the time, started directing for the cinema with a documentary and already with a provocative title. Filmed in the neutral, minimal studios d'Epinal, the protagonists talk about their lives, loves, desires, regrets, all orchestrated by a masterful edit highlighting the dissonances and malaise of these already tired young people. A rare film, a diffracted portrait of this generation which did not experience the war and was not yet affected by the wind of protest which would whip up five years later in 1968.
