Taking advantage of a natural flooding, François Truffaut rapidly put together a little mobile film crew and went off to shot an improvised short. "Chabrol loaned him his car, Jean-Claude Brialy, still an unknown, agreed to go along, as well as a novice actress, Caroline Dim, and Truffaut improvised with them along the banks of the Loing river. The water had already started receding, and he began to feel a bit ridiculous filming frivolous images in the midst of the very real problems of the victims of the flooding. He gave up on the whole project." (Carole Le Berre) In the end, it was Jean-Luc Godard who finished the film, edited it and added some hilarious commentary.
