A real "concept" in Blake Edward's mind The Party, his 17th film, was based on a script of only 65 pages, and to a large extent on the improvisational talents of its lead actor, Peter Sellers. This film was a milestone in the world of cinema, since for the first time, and using technology developed for Edwards, a video camera was integrated into the main camera, and the video monitor could show exactly the same images as those shot for the film. Blake Edwards explained that Peter Sellers, who was an extreme perfectionist, was fascinated by the monitor and that he systematically wanted to view the shot that had just been filmed to see any potential problems in his performance .
