Born in 1979, Martin Lund trained as an art director at Westerdals School of Communication before he was accepted into the Norwegian Film School at Lillehammer, graduating in 2009 with the short film Baloon Moods. However this was not the first film he had directed: Home Game from 2004 was screened at numerous festivals, and received several awards. He also directed the shorts Shall We Dance? in 2007, and Pistachio in 2009. Lund made his debut as a feature film director in 2010 with Twigson Ties the Knot.

“An international study has shown that Norwegians have very strict requirements of personal conduct and that they punish unwanted behaviour. With Psychobitch I set out to prove that it's possible to break out of this conformity. I wanted to tell a story about how important it is to listen to your heart when you are looking for yourself.” (Martin Lund)
