Pleasant Days won the Silver Leopard at the Locarno Festival in an initial version which nevertheless left the director dissatisfied. After shooting some extra scenes and re-editing the film, Kornél Mundruczó presented the final version of his film in Angers in 2004, and won two awards. Mundruczó met Tamás Polgár in a youth detention centre. He films him lovingly, like a Pasolinian ephebe. He also revealed the actress Orsolya Tóth and the alchemy which came about between the two made it possible to created scenes of near improvisation, as the followed the rhythm of their impulses.
