Financed by Pink Floyd among others, and codirected by the two Terrys in the group (Gilliam and Jones), The Holy Grail is Monty Python's first feature for the cinema. Gilliam mainly took care of the animated sequences, and said: “Terry Jones and I were fans of Pasolini, the images are so realistic that you get the feeling that you can smell the smells and touch the material you see on the screen”. This realism mixed the anachronisms which make fun of the contemporary England of the time give rise to a hilarious and absurd film which has not aged at all and still influences comedians today, the first being Alain Chabat.
