Mods takes the form of a contemporary musical comedy where the group dances are far from the Hollywood manifestations of euphoria. Jean-Sébastien Chauvin said that “normally in cinema, dance is there to exteriorise what the characters cannot normally say. Here, it tends to interiorise, to turn back in on the character the suffering of love sickness” (Chronic'Art). Shot in 17 days at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, Mods was very successful on the festivals circuit, and was a good omen for the pairing of Serge Bozon (directing) and Axelle Ropert (scriptwriting).
