A surprise success, Ma vie de Courgette (My Life as a Zucchini) is adapted from Gilles Paris's novel Autobiographie d'une Courgette. “The tone and the story took me back to my childhood and reminded me of my first emotions as a spectator with films such as Les 400 coups (The 400 Blows) or Bambi”, said Claude Barras. The producers invited him to work with Céline Sciamma on the script. “The success of the script also comes from the very delicate treatment of the characters, subtly evoking the darkness of the past to drive them into the light of the burgeoning friendships of the present”, added Claude Barras. The film won the Prix Fondation Gan à la Diffusion in Annecy in 2015.
