After two years at the Dramatic Arts Conservatories in Algiers and in Paris, Abdelkrim Bahloul went on to study at the IDHEC. He managed with this first film about integration and delinquency to direct a lively comedy. "I imagined the film like a fairy tale. I worked a lot with Morphology of the Folktale by Vladimir Propp, and each time I think about the putting together a script, I try to identify the archetypes and define the characters in such a way as to make them universal. My film is the opposite of a film with a message, the contrary to what we're used to seeing when we talk about immigration. My film is a French film, made by an Algerian, and perceived as a product of the two countries" (A. Bahloul).
