Jane Birkin imagined this story. When she told it to Agnès Varda, she was filled with enthusiasm, and produced a script and self-produced produced it thanks to Sans toit ni loi (Vagabond). Mathieu Demy, Charlotte Gainsbourg and the young Lou Doillon played the teenagers and children, giving the film a false air of a family Home Movie. Shot during the school holidays, Kung-Fu Master interrupted the filming of Jane B. par Agnès V. and gives, in a delicate and indirect way, a testimony to the period.
