Just the Wind
Csak a szél
Benedek Fliegauf

In a village in the Hungarian countryside, the news of the murder of a family of Romani plunges a woman and her children into a terrible state of fear. They suffer from their extremely difficult position as much as from the abject racism of the villagers, the dream of going to find the father, who has emigrated to Canada. While they wait, they must be attentive and discreet in the face of the daily humiliations and threats…

(Csak a szél) Just the Wind sis inspired by tragic events that took place in Hungary against the Romani. Director Bence Fliegauf went to meet some of the murderers, but after having talked with them decided to refocus his narrative on the victims. “The murder was just an episode in their lives but it destroyed them and those around them. (...) This is the conclusion I came to (…)”. He decided to portray a family of Romani avoiding the stereotypes of the community: “(…) the picture painted of the Romani as creatures of instinct, crying while they sing, goes hand in hand with the fact that they appear almost exclusively in big, chaotic groups” (Bence Fliegauf).
