As always, with Agnès Varda, this film takes nothing from a pre-existing form. Jane B. par Agnès V. is a multi-facetted portrait of actress Jane Birkin made up of interviews, reports on places she likes and short fictions where the actress is shown in unexpected roles with other actors. Agnès Varda also reveals herself with mirrors and an an-going dialogue with Birkin. “We played false to get the truth”, she states. During the shoot Jane Birkin suggested an idea for a fiction, and Kung-Fu Master was born…
