"I made a dozen or so films in Bosnia during the war, all of them on the war itself, and some of them were well-received and won awards. People talked about the courage, truth and meaning of what we did. But I was sick of making films about the horror of what I saw around me, death, blood and the never-ending, sterile arguments on who was to blame, who started it. It was a terrible and oppressive experience. I wanted to make films about peace. Peace arrived and I carried out making films. But I discovered that peace was even worse than war. (...) The ability and courage to laugh and find trials and suffering funny, even when it appears that thing cannot possibly get better, helps us to survive and keep faith with the future" (Pjer Zalica).
