For Kornél Mundruczó “Incest is not at the heart of the narrative. It is rather a story of the courage needed to accept a natural attraction which breaks taboos and conventions. What is intolerable is that certain people believe that they have the right to persecute others who do not conform to the norm”. The sublime décor of Delta and the unadulterated narrative contribute to the quest for a return to primitive feelings and an archaic story. The film follows Rousseau's adage that Man is naturally good in the state of nature and corrupted by society. Winner of the Fipresci Prize at Cannes in 2008, “this dark tale is filmed with extreme precision, a natural feeling for framing and an elegiac poetry. Quite an art” (Le Monde).
