Béla Tarr's last film, A torinói ló (The Turin Horse), is considered to be his most pessimistic film. The film focuses on a father-daughter duo in a world without a future, as if waiting for the Apocalypse. Béla Tarr builds his film over three days and plays with repetitions but with slight variations. A torinói ló presents a form of heroism in its desire to show the possibilities of breaking out of the circle (synonymous with nothingness) of repetition through the courage of the living to face up to the unknown.
