In 17 rue Bleue, Chad Chenouga retraces his painful past, a past shared by his mother and brother, illegal immigrants in France since the Algerian Revolution. "Everything in real life happened more violently. At first, I wanted to write a novel. Maybe I would have gone further had I wrote it. But the image is so powerful that toning down the film compared to reality was a constant effort, during the writing of the script, filming with the actors, in the editing room, in the choice of music... At every moment, we asked ourselves where we were going. What interested me was the descent into hell without being complaisant about its darkness" (C. Chenouga).
