Aleksey Lapin was born in Tomsk, Russia. He lived in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, before moving to Italy in 1998, where he finished school and graduated with his first Bachelor of Arts degree from Bolzano Free University. After some postproduction working experience in Germany, he was admitted to the Vienna Film Academy and studied directing in Michael Haneke's class. He is currently developing his first full-length feature film.
