For several days, rock group drummer Roberto Tobias has been followed by a man in the street. When he finally confronts the stranger, the situation gets out of hand and murder ensues. Roberto is photographed holding a gun during the crime and soon receives threats from a mysterious person who witnessed the whole scene. He becomes the victim of relentless harassment, while around him other murders are committed...
After L'uccello dalle piume di cristallo (The Bird with the Crystal Plumage) and Il gatto a nove code (The Cat o' Nine Tails), 4 mosche di velluto grigio (4 Flies on Grey Velvet) brings Dario Argento's animal trilogy to a masterly close, earning him the nickname of the “Italian Hitchcock”. With a memorable score by Ennio Morricone, this dive into the heart of a paranoid, mortifying nightmare gives Argento an opportunity to perfect his mastery of the giallo while playing with visual experimentation. Part way between a thriller and a psychological drama punctuated by humour, Four Flies on Grey Velvet is screened in its new, flamboyant 4K restoration!
