Algiers, 1956. Fernand Iveton, a 30-year-old independentist and idealist labourer, is arrested for having planted a bomb in an unused part of the factory where he works. He hasn't killed anyone, but he still risks getting a death sentence. The life of Hélène, who has become the wife of a “traitor”, is turned upside-down. But she refuses to abandon Fernand to his fate. Adapted from a true story, the film is a ticking countdown in their memories, a love story and a promise broken for reasons of state.
Hélier Cisterne
Hélier Cisterne, born in 1981, grew up in the Lot. After secondary school, where he studied film, in Brive-la-Gaillarde, he went on to study philosophy at the University of Paris VIII in Saint Denis and made his first short film, Dehors. After 3 other short and medium length films, he made his first feature, Vandal, which won the 2013 Prix Louis Delluc. The following year, he joined Eric Rochant's team where he directed 9 episodes of Le Bureau des Légendes (The Bureau). De nos frères blesses (Faithful), written with Katell Quillévéré, is his second feature. They are both co-creators of a mini-series on the birth of the group NTM and the arrival of hip-hop in France for Arte and Netflix, currently in preparation. He is a member of the SRF for the defence of artistic and moral freedom and independence in French cinema, and the collective 50/50 for equality and diversity.
