For two months, Raymond Depardon shot four minutes of film a day in New York City for a documentary. In the end, he only kept three sequence shots.
Madly in love with New York, Raymond Depardon made this short visual essay as an admission of failure, and won the César for best short film. In a few sublime black and white images, he filmed the city as if on its outskirts, from the outside and confessed: “I couldn't manage to film the city, it was too much, my thoughts were elsewhere”.
