A family of bears drives across a mountain range. Little Bear is bored. He looks out of the window and goes far, far away.
“Very much inspired by the films of Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki and the graphic world of the Nintendo DS video game Animal Crossing, director Katy Wang has created a gentle-coloured world, with a simple, round style and a texture similar to painting – as is usual in her short films.
“What happens when you are comfortably sitting in the back of the family car?
Forests takes us deep into the hearts of a wood, in the distant mountains, where nature's magic is at work. We are taken into the inner wanderings of a young bear, a dreamer observing the landscapes flash by the car window. Comfortably installed in the reassuring cocoon of the back seat, he journeys into a marvellous imaginary world, jumping over mountains on the back of a giant dog and meeting fabulous animals. The atmospheres lead us to visualise being nice and warm inside on a cold winter's evening when the rain is beating down outside. This little film also brings a certain nostalgia for childhood. With the song of the London musician Tom Rosenthal, the gentle guitar melody and his reassuring voice, we are carried off on the journey. The words cradle us to better embrace this adventure”. Benshi
