Fred Madison is a well-off Los Angeles saxophonist. He suspects his wife Renee of cheating on him. He begins to receive anonymous videos showing the apartment where he lives with Renee, seen from the outside, and then from the inside …
Five years after the public failure of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, David Lynch made a sensational comeback with this sinuous film noir, haunted by disconcerting freaks and a powerful erotic scene. Although the interpretation naturally remains open, Lynch takes as a starting point an immersion into the mind of a schizophrenic giving him the opportunity to develop experimental narrative inventions. For Frédéric Bonnaud, it is “a unique cinema experience where time and space constantly puncture each other and double up”. (Les Inrocks)
