Laurentiu Ginghina has lived in the small Romanian town of Vaslui since 1972. By day, he is a senior civil servant working in the prefecture. By night, he invents football rules to accelerate the speed of the game and considerably reduce the number of fouls...

15 years ago, Corneliu Porumboiu heard about his brother's childhood friend who wanted to invent a new form of football. “Good luck” he said. But his curiosity was rekindled when he learned that the friend was still thinking about it. Porumboiu got in touch with him and decided to go and meet him in his home town, accompanied by a very small crew. The two passionate men immediately formed a close bond around questions that Porumboiu always takes with the utmost seriousness... For Laurentiu Ginghina, underneath what appears to be a settled life lies a great deal of frustration, and also a great deal of obstinacy to overcome ups and downs of life and the prevailing gloom. In his desire to redefine the rules, he creates a utopia and, in filming, Porumboiu invents a documentary fable.
