Kamal Ourahou
2023 - France / Morocco - 1h32

Screenings : saturday 27 - 5:00 pm - Pathé - 12 - presented and followed by a debate with the film directors
Between 2009 and 2011, I filmed and edited Nassim Lachhab's very first skateboard videos in Rabat, Morocco. In 2020, after living between France and Spain, Nassim became the first Moroccan and African professional skateboarder in the world. Since then, I continued to ask myself: how did Nassim experience his rise to the forefront of the international skateboarding scene alongside his life as an emigrant? How does his unique journey resonate with current issues in the Morocco?
Producer, director and editor born in 1997 in Rabat, Morocco and based in France since 2015, Kamal Ourahou earned a degree in Performing Arts on the Cinematographic Studies course at the University of Strasbourg in 2019. He then graduated as a film and audiovisual editor from the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français in 2021, followed by a master's in directing and creation at the University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis in 2023. He made his debut behind the camera as a teenager, filming skateboarders and surfers in Rabat, before going on to direct several independent dramas, documentaries and music videos. His films are rebellious, impressionistic and intimate, and tell the story of the quest for freedom of a certain section of Moroccan youth. Better is his first feature film.
