Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Adam McKay
2004 - United States - 1h34

In the 1970s, Ron Burgundy is the star presenter on local San Diego television. When ambitious Veronica Corningstone joins the editorial staff, Ron is tolerant as long as she stays in her place. Hostilities between Ron and Veronica finally break out when the position of news anchor is brought up.
The first of five films that Adam McKay has made with Will Ferrell, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy takes the form of an extravagant comedy, overly caricaturing the machismo of television men and the mediocrity of local news. Behind its humour, rooted in Saturday Night Live, the film points its finger at a certain idea of the average American: white, stupid and proud of it. With The Big Short and Vice, Adam McKay went on to tackle the world of finance and politics even more directly without losing his taste for farce.
