Among the 2,700 endangered languages in the world, Raymond Depardon and Claudine Nougaret chose nine: Chipaya, Kawésqar, Quechua, Mapuche, Guarani, Yanomami, Afar, Breton and Occitan. With very simple words, men and women express their attachment to the land that saw their birth, to their disappearing languages, to their way of life brought into question by modern society.
The film Donner la parole was commissioned for the exhibition Terre Natale, Ailleurs commence ici by the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain.
