Le Mystère de la chambre jaune

Bruno Podalydès
2003 - Belgium / France - 1h58

Following the attempted murder of beautiful Mathilde, daughter of the famous Professor Stangerson, the young reporter Joseph Rouletabille, accompanied by his friend and photographer Sainclair, go to the Château du Glandier to solve the mystery.
A resounding success with both audiences and critics at the time of its release, this adaptation of the book by Gaston Leroux gives pride of place to a comic strip atmosphere, with the complicity of a troupe of actors(including Sabine Azéma and Pierre Arditi) in the spirit of Alain Resnais' style of films. The crime scene is a room locked from the inside, a situation similar to Hergé's The Castafiore Emerald. Bruno Podalydès creates a playful and mischievous show with, in its centre, Rouletabille, performed by his brother Denis, who is evocative in more than one way another journalist and investigator: a certain Tintin.
